Alberto Garza Sr., 68 of Lubbock went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 26, 2021. Viewing and visitation will begin Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel from 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will begin 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matthew Spitsberg officiating. Interment will follow at The City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.
Alberto was born February 17, 1953, in Crosbyton to Luis and Santos Garza. Later in life, he became a welder and worked numerous years for Affordable Trailers, before retiring. He enjoyed bar-b-queuing, listening to, and dancing to music. He also enjoyed doing lawn work and making sure his car was always clean. He was an avid fan of The Dallas Cowboys and loved collecting the team’s memorabilia. However, Alberto’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luis and Santos Garza as well as his birth mother Minnie Garza Puente.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Albert “JR” Garza Jr. of Lubbock, Albert Rodriguez of Lubbock and Michael Rodriguez of Lubbock; two daughters, Andrea Carrillo of Wolfforth and Cynthia Rodriguez of Lubbock; his birth father Jesus L. Puente of Lubbock; two brothers Daniel Puente and Pat Puente both of Lorenzo; five sisters Ester Lopez of Lorenzo, Francis Dominguez of Lorenzo, Elizabeth Marquez of Lorenzo, Margie Garza of Lubbock and Jessica Gauna of Lubbock; also a host of grandchildren.
