Teresa Castaneda

Visitation for Teresa Castaneda, 80 of Wolfforth, will begin on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm the same evening. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fabian Davila officiating. Burial will follow at Wolfforth Cemetery. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Teresa went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2021. She was born on March 7, 1941, in Falfurrias, Texas to the late Jesus and Rosa Ortiz. On March 9, 2002, she married Gonzalo Castaneda in Garden City, Kansas. Teresa was a care giver for many years before retiring, she was an animal lover and also raised chickens for part of her life. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing, and listening to music specifically Tejano and music from the 50’s era. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, they will always remember how Teresa was the jokester of the family and will always cherish the memories they have with her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Jesus and Rosa Ortiz; a daughter Sarah Ann Vela and a grandson Michael Anthony Pena.

Survivors include her husband Gonzalo Castaneda of Wolfforth; two sons Reynaldo Vela Sr. of Wolfforth and Raul Vela Jr. of Lubbock; four daughters Norma Manzano of Lubbock, Edna Fernandez of Lubbock, Rosalinda Zapata of Wolfforth and Velma Vela of Wolfforth; four sisters Marina Garza, Bertha Gonzalez, Rosie Mungia and Olga Acuna all of Alice, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren.
