Alberto Garcia

Alberto (Albert) Ray Garcia, 72, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Albert was born on January 14, 1954, in Taylor, Texas. He graduated from Thrall High School and attended Texas A&M University. He worked as a firefighter in Taylor, TX, as an EMT in Austin, TX and later worked as an electrical lineman in Colorado for 38 years.

Albert was preceded in death by his son, Albert Jr. Garcia; his parents, Juanita and Santiago Garcia and Crescencia Arellano; and several siblings.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Rivera and Lori Jackson of Taylor, Texas; his grandchildren; and his siblings, Rita Rangel, Julia Romo, Johnny Garcia, Santos Moreno, Anita Rangel, Luis Arellano, Veronica Ferguson, Teresa Shipley, and Martha Zamarron. He also leaves behind his beloved chihuahua, Dotty, who brought him love and loyal companionship.

Albert found happiness in the simple things in life. He enjoyed a homecooked meal and visiting with family and friends. He especially enjoyed Elgin sausage and ice cream. He was always ready to go boating on the lake, road trips, spending time outdoors and taking care of his roses.

Albert also enjoyed listening to Tejano music, dancing, watching Gunsmoke, The Price Is Right, and the Dallas Cowboys. Many were surprised to learn that Albert could also play the piano and accordion.

Albert was also a handyman, he could repair, install, or build almost anything. If something needed fixing, Albert usually knew what to do.

During his illness, Albert showed great courage and strength. Even on difficult days, he continued to hold on to his faith, hope and wait for a cure. Each morning, he prayed and asked God to help him through the day.

Albert’s family and friends will miss him and remember him for his strong work ethic, talents, strength and faith.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe followed by inurnment at the church cemetery in Taylor, Texas at a later date.
