Viewing and visitation for Antonia Martinez, 81 of Mathis will be 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel-Tahoka with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2026, at St. Jude Catholic Church with Deacon Paul Murillo officiating. Burial will follow at Nevels Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Antonia Martinez, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. She was born on December 11, 1944, in Coahoma, Texas to the late Felix and Petra Arguijo. In 1965 she went on to marry Alfredo V. Martinez in Atacosa County, cherishing numerous years of a loving a marriage before he preceded her in death.

Antonia devoted her career to the agricultural industry. As she spent her formative years working in the fields alongside her sisters, they forged cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Together, they endured the scorching sun and the long days of chopping cotton, always finding comfort at the end of a hardworking day relaxing with cups of coffee all the way into the early 2000s.

Antonia also drove tractors and trucks, traversing the vast landscapes from Texas to Florida. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly as she owned three two-row cotton strippers, providing custom cotton stripping services that contributed to her community. Her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to her work will be remembered by all who knew her.

Her passion extended beyond her work to her personal life, where she found joy in gardening. Antonia had a special fondness for roses, and her yard became a canvas for her creativity, always immaculate and thriving with life. She was known to bring warmth into any environment, planting trees with care and dedication, creating spaces of beauty wherever she went.

Antonia's life was a testament to the power of love, hard work, and dedication. As we remember her, we find solace in the memories created and the lives she touched. May her memory bring us comfort as we carry her spirit forward.

She is preceded in death by her parents Felix and Petra Arguijo; her husband Alfredo V. Martinez; A son Alfredo A. Martinez Jr., a daughter Mary Lou Martinez; a brother Felix Arguijo Jr., and two sisters Margie Arguijo and Felicita Casarez

She is survived by two daughters Laura Deleon of Mathis and Eliza Torres Martinez of Corpus Christi; four sisters Lillie Gonzales of Mathis, Patricia Gallegos of Midland, Peggy Martinez of Tahoka and Celia Arguijo of Abeline; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
