Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Betty E. Garza will begin 2:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Second day visitation will begin 10:00 a.m-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m., the same day. Funeral Services will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Lopez of Ministerios Nueva Vida officiating. Burial will follow at The City of Lubbock Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the evening of Friday, July 18, 2025, Betty went to be with the Lord. She was born on August 16, 1941, in San Luis, Colorado, to the late Margarito and Celia Rodriguez. Later in life on July 21, 1962, Betty married Zaragoza Garcia Garza in San Luis, Colorado cherishing fifty-two years of a loving marriage before he preceded her in death on July 13, 2015.
Betty's life was a beacon of love and filled with resilience. She was known for her unwavering spirit and joy for life, which she shared generously with all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Betty carved a path through life not only as a devoted mother but also as a dedicated professional. She spent many years as a Data Entry Specialist at The Farmers Co-op Compress and later took on the role of Maintenance Supervisor at The South Plains Mall. Her strong work ethic and commitment to her responsibilities were just reflections of her character—one that valued diligence and integrity.
Beyond her career, Betty lived a life filled with vibrant interests and passions. A collector at heart, she cherished her beloved pig artifacts and Betty Boop items, treasures that brought her delight and reminisced of joyous moments. Betty was an avid reader, often found lost in the pages of her favorite books or reading her Bible—a source of solace and strength throughout her life. She loved indulging in the simple pleasures of going to the movies, dining out, and traveling, always seeking adventure while creating lasting memories. She loved spending time with her family.
As we remember Betty E. Garza, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life marked by love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit. She may have departed from our sight, but her warmth and legacy will forever remain etched in our hearts.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Zaragoza Garza (July 13, 2015); her parents Margarito and Celia Rodriguez; two brothers Aurthur Rodriguez and Johnny Rodriguez
She is survived by a son Charles Garza of Lubbock; a daughter Linda Ponciano and husband John of Lubbock; three brothers Joe Rodriguez and wife Mercy of Colorado, Elmer Rodriguez of Colorado and Eddie Rodriguez of Colombia; three sisters Stella Rodriguez of Colorado, Diana Rodriguez of Colorado and Marlene Valerio and husband Jerry of Colorado; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
