Christopher “Chris” Montez, 49 of Lubbock went to be with the Lord Friday, November 26, 2021. Viewing and visitation will begin Sunday, December 5, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. A Celebration of Life will begin 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Trino Paiz officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.
Chris was born October 28, 1972, in Lubbock to Clemente Sr. and Adela Montez. He operated his own line of work, as a custodial floor tech for numerous years and his reputation preceded him as a dependable, diligent and an excellent worker. Chris was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, he always enjoyed cheering them on to victory. Chris’s greatest joy in life was his family, whether he was being his nieces and nephews’ greatest fan, taking care of his mother, offering encouraging and motivational messages, or just simply being there for them. Chris will always be remembered as a gift and a great blessing not only just to his family, but to all those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father Clemente Montez Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother Adela Montez of Wolfforth; his siblings Dalia and husband Roy Rivera, Dianne and husband Eddie Irizarry, Clemente Montez Jr. and wife Lynn, Vangi and husband Dois Hobbs, Christina Montez and Adrienne Montez all of Lubbock; the loving children that he raised as his own Michael Sandoval, Tiffanee Sandoval and John “Jay” Aguilar and their eleven children whom he loved as his own grandchildren all of Lubbock; twenty two nieces and nephews and forty one great nieces and nephews.
