Christoval “Chris” Ochoa, 83, of Ropesville, Texas passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Viewing and visitation for Mr. Ochoa will begin on Monday, January 16, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a prayer service beginning 6:00 pm the same day at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. A Celebration of Life will begin at 2:00 pm, on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Morin officiating. Burial will follow at the Ropesville Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel.
Chris was born on August 17, 1939, in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Florentino and Matilde Ochoa. On September 2, 1967, he married the love of his life, Gloria DeLeon in Brownfield, Texas, and they shared fifty-five joyful years of marriage together. Chris was a devoted Christian, husband, and father. He worked as a farmer for most of his life, although he owned and operated a gas station, Ochoa Service Station, where he became staple of the community for many years in Ropesville. He served as a member of the Ropesville City Council and the Ropesville Lion’s Club for several years. He was also a long-standing member of the Church of Christ. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his pickup truck, barbecuing, gardening, and cheering on his all-time favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. His family will always cherish and remember him as a wonderful father and husband. Chris never knew a stranger. He was kind, loving, friendly and always had a smile on his face. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was constantly making others laugh. In addition to having a large family, Chris had a countless number of friends and close acquaintances who he made throughout his life. He left a special impact on everyone who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Florentino and Matilde Ochoa; brothers Ramon Ochoa and Manuel Ochoa; sisters Mary Sandoval and Lupe Casarez.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Gloria Ochoa of Ropesville; a daughter, Christina Martinez (Joe) of Ropesville; sons, Noel Ochoa (Ashli Alamanza) of Dallas, and Roger Ochoa of Lubbock; a brother, Robert Ochoa (Janie) of Seattle, Washington; sisters Tina Perez (Amos) of Lubbock, and Patsy Cruz (Paul) of Meadow; grandchildren Nicole Martinez (Mario Gomez), David Martinez, Eric Martinez, Brooke Alva, and Victoria Ochoa; great grandchildren Mario “MJ” Gomez, Jr., Jade Gomez, Nevaeh Gomez, Hadlee Martinez and Logan Martinez; and numerous special brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
