Dora Gloria Hernandez

March 13, 1925 — September 27, 2023

Lubbock

On the late evening of Wednesday, September 27, 2023, Dora Gloria Hernandez, 98 of Lubbock went to be with the Lord. Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Hernandez will begin Friday, September 29, 2023, 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same day. A Celebration of Life will begin Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., with Rev. Lee Gamez officiating. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Born on March 13, 1925, in Brady, to the late Martin and Julia Gloria, Dora grew up surrounded by love and warmth. Later in life on April 17, 1969, she went on to marry Encarnacion Hernandez in Brownfield, they cherished twenty-two years of a loving marriage before he preceded her in death on April 14, 1992.

Caring for her family was her top priority, Dora had an unrelenting work ethic as she dedicated herself to cleaning houses, while tending to her own home for numerous years. She was known for her unwavering love and devotion to her family members. She cared for and raised an eighteen-year-old son single-handedly, also taking on the role of a father figure. This was a testament to her strong character and tender heart. Her nurturing nature inspired those around her to be better and always choose the path of righteousness.

Dora also had a zest for life beyond her role as a mother and homemaker. She loved to travel whenever she had the opportunity and cherished the moments spent exploring new places. Moreover, Dora found joy in simply looking out into the world—finding beauty in its simplicity and finding joy in the small wonders of nature.

She is preceded in death by her husband Encarnacion Hernandez; parents Martin and Julia Gloria; daughter Janie Mendoza; sons Rudy Gloria and Daniel Gloria; granddaughters Irma Gloria, Krystal Lynn Gloria and Dora Cantu; grandsons Leroy Gloria Jr. Alberto Gloria Jr. and a great grandson Landry Villarreal.

Dora is survived by her loving children: Leroy and wife Dalia Gloria of Slaton, Alberto and wife Isabel Gloria of O'Donnell, Yolanda Perez and husband Jessie of Big Springs, Julia and husband Santiago Cantu of California, Alicia and husband Jerry Guana of Junction, Amelia and husband Marco Tijerina of Lubbock, Ismael and wife Antonia Gloria of Lubbock, and Renee and wife Nicole Hernandez of Lubbock; forty-three grandchildren, ninety great-grandchildren, and sixty-five great-great-grandchildren.
