Elva F. Flores, a cherished and devoted member of her community and family, passed away at her residence on May 20, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born on March 14, 1954, in Mathis, Texas, to the late Domingo and Tomasa Flores. Later in life on December 31, 1974, Elva went on to marry Ricardo V. Florez in Mathis, Texas. They had a beautiful twenty-fifth anniversary at the church in Wilson. However, Elva and Ricardo have cherished a total of fifty-one years of a loving marriage.
Elva was a woman of profound faith, drawing strength and comfort from God throughout her journey. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her being, guiding her through life's challenges and inspiring those around her. She carried this faith with grace and humility, teaching her family not only to be competitive but to face the world with positivity and hope.
A woman of many talents and passions, Elva found joy in her love of sewing and gardening. Her special affection for sunflowers mirrored her bright spirit, and she delighted in the creative world of crafts and collage work. Elva’s devotion extended to her cherished Gallos, and she found peace and inspiration in reading her Bible regularly. Springtime held a special place in her heart, symbolizing renewal and hope—a perfect reflection of her own outlook on life. Above all, her happiest moments were spent surrounded by her beloved family.
As we remember Elva F. Flores, we hold close the lessons she imparted—the importance of faith, the power of positivity, and the joyous embrace of family. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, resilience, and grace. Though she has departed from our sight, the seeds of her kindness and strength will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Domingo and Tomasa Flores; a sister Juanita Moreno; brothers Richard Flores and Domingo Flores Jr.
Elva is survived by her husband Ricardo V. Florez of Slaton; three sons Ricardo Flores Jr. and his wife Mindy of Lubbock, John Manuel Flores “Boots” and his wife Nancy of Slaton, and Daniel "DJ" Jesus Flores of Slaton; a brother Pedro Flores and his wife Adela of Coleman, Texas; a sister Ninfa Bautista and her husband Mike Hernandez; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, host of nieces and nephews.
