Erminia S. Mejia

Mrs. Erminia S. Mejia, 74 of Lubbock passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2022.  Visitation will begin Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home-Lubbock from 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. A Celebration of Life will begin, 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Pete Peña officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Erminia was born August 21, 1948, in Lubbock to the late Santos and Crecencia Salazar. She later went on to marry Marcos Mario Mejia in Lubbock, he preceded her in death on November 11, 1999. Erminia was a homemaker, she enjoyed decorating her home with family pictures and cooking. Which all her family knew she made the best buñuelos, atole, tortillas, burritos, menudo and hojarascas “sugar cookies”. Going to garage sales, watching Law and Order, wrestling, and “Caso Cerrado “ were also some of Erminia’s hobbies. Her family will always remember she was independent, a hard worker. Always, when we would leave her home, she never failed to wave good bye to us….. Erminia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Marcos Mario Mejia and by her parents Santos and Crecencia Salazar; a sister Naomi Salazar (February 26, 2022).

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Gilberto Gallegos and wife Pauline of Lamesa, Albert Mejia and wife Janie of Lubbock, Mario Mejia of Lubbock and Adam Mejia and wife Erma of Lubbock; three daughters Mary and husband Michael Gutierrez, Esmeralda Mejia and Irene Lazo all of Lubbock; two sisters Anita Atkinson and Conchita Acevedo both of Lubbock; seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
