Guadalupe "Lupe" Moya, a dedicated farmer and beloved family man, passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 69 at his residence. Born on December 12, 1955, to the late Manuel and Clara Moya in Alies, Texas. Later in life in 1972, he married Cuca Garza in Tahoka cherishing forty-six years of a loving marriage, before she preceded him in death on April 10, 2018. Lupe dedicated most of his life to the agricultural endeavors that provided for his family. His hard work and commitment to his profession were sources of pride, and his legacy endures in the lives he touched.
Throughout his life, Lupe was known for his love of people and his belief in the principles of tough love. He had a particularly strong bond with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Lupe showed his love daily, ensuring they knew they were cherished. Lupe had an ornery charm, along with being a man of his word his steadfastness and truthfulness, drew people to him, making every encounter memorable. Even in moments of laughter, when he shared a joke or two, his spirit uplifted those around him.
An enthusiast of farming equipment, Lupe had a deep affection for his tractors, which were not only tools for his labor but also a significant aspect of his day-to-day life. His hands were calloused from years of hard work, yet they were gentle when guiding those he loved.
Lupe is survived by his sons, Lupe Moya Jr. of Amarillo and Jesus Moya of Tahoka; his daughter, Juanita Renteria of Lubbock; his daughter, Dolores Lira of Tahoka; his daughter, Suana Moya of Lamesa; and his sister, Yoli Moya of Louisiana. He leaves behind twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who will carry forward his values and spirit.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Clara Moya; his wife, Cuca Moya; his brothers, Joe Moya and Johnny Moya; his sister, Aurora Moya; and his sons, Christopher Lee Moya and Jose Angel Garcia.
Lupe's journey through life was marked by unwavering love, hard work, and an enduring commitment to his family. He will be profoundly missed by those who knew him.
Lupe’s legacy of love, work ethic, and family devotion will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Services to honor and celebrate his life will be held at Calvillo Funeral Chapel in Tahoka, beginning with a viewing on July 30, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, followed by a rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will take place on July 30, 2025, at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert Williams officiating at 11:00 AM., followed by burial at Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka, Texas.
