Jesus Escobedo Barron Sr.

Jesus Escobedo Barron Sr., 81 of Lubbock, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023. Visitation for Mr. Barron will begin Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 3:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00p.m. the same evening at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Jesus was born April 25, 1942, to the late Abundio and Agustina Escobedo Barron in Burnet, Texas. In 1959 he married the love of his life Esperanza Villarreal in Brownfield, Texas, she preceded him in death in 2002. Jesus was a hard worker, working many years for McWhorter’s Tire Shop and then becoming self-employed, working in the roofing and construction businesses. Jesus was a faithful Dallas Cowboy fan and lover of John Wayne movies, but most of all, he enjoyed spending his time at the field watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play football, soccer, and baseball. Jesus was a man of true integrity, who was honest until the very end. His family will always remember how Jesus was stern, but fair, and how his heart and home were always open for those he loved the most. His ability to sacrifice, provide, support, forgive, and love will be forever ingrained in all he knew. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He is preceded in death by his wife Esperanza Barron (2002); sons Raul Barron (2019) and Valentine Barron (2019), a daughter Agustina Barron (Nov. 2022).

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Jesus Barron Jr. and wife Gracie of Lubbock, Richard Barron and wife Leticia of Lubbock, his daughter Lisa Hays and husband Marcus of Lubbock; a sister Maria Miranda of Brownfield; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren.
