Lubbock

Viewing and visitation for Mr. Jose A. Avila, 65 of Lubbock will be Friday, March 15, 2024, 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Ministerios Nueva Vida (201 N Boston Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415) with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. A Celebration of Life will take place 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Ministerios Nueva Vida with Rev. Andres Esparza officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Jose, went to be with the Lord. He was born on November 12, 1958, In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico to the late Pablo and Dolores Avila. Later in life on March 31, 1977, Jose went on to marry Maria Esparza in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico cherishing forty-six years of a loving marriage together.

Jose was truly a jack of all trades, having worked in various fields including construction, carpentry, and house remodeling. His craftsmanship and dedication reflected his commitment to providing for his family and creating a legacy through his work. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jose will be remembered for his remarkable sense of humor and love for storytelling. He had a gift for making others laugh and his lively spirit lifted the hearts of those around him. In his leisure time, he found solace in assembling furniture and expressing himself through drawing, showcasing his artistic side.

He is preceded in death by his parents Pablo and Dolores Avila; and two sons Jose Antonio Avila Jr. and Jose De Jesus Avila.
Jose is survived by his loving wife Maria Avila of Lubbock; son Pablo Andres Avila of Laredo; daughters Erika Ivonne Medina of Laredo, Ana Aileen Self and Michelle Guadalupe Avila-Moreno of Lubbock; brother Andres Esparza; grandson Jose De Jesus Avila Jr. of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, eighteen additional grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

El velorio del Sr. José A. Ávila, 65 de Lubbock será el viernes 15 de marzo de 2024, de 6:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m. en Ministerios Nueva Vida (201 N Boston Ave, Lubbock, TX 79415) con un servicio de oración a partir de las 6:00 p.m. la misma tarde. Una Celebración de la Vida se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a. m. del sábado 16 de marzo de 2024 en Ministerios Nueva Vida con el Rev. Andrés Esparza oficiando. Seguirá el entierro en el cementerio de la ciudad de Lubbock. Todos los arreglos se hicieron bajo la dirección de Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Más adelante en su vida, el 31 de marzo de 1977, José se casó con María Esparza en Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México, y atesoró cuarenta y seis años de un matrimonio amoroso.

José era verdaderamente un experto en todos los oficios, ya que había trabajado en diversos campos, incluidos la construcción, la carpintería y la remodelación de casas. Su destreza y dedicación reflejaron su compromiso de mantener a su familia y crear un legado a través de su trabajo. Más allá de sus esfuerzos profesionales, José será recordado por su notable sentido del humor y su amor por contar historias. Tenía el don de hacer reír a los demás y su espíritu vivaz levantaba los corazones de quienes lo rodeaban. A José le sobreviven su amada esposa María Ávila de Lubbock; hijo Pablo Andrés Ávila de Laredo; hijas Erika Ivonne Medina de Laredo, Ana Aileen Self y Michelle Guadalupe Avila-Moreno de Lubbock; hermano Andrés Esparza; nieto José De Jesús Ávila Jr. de Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, México, dieciocho nietos adicionales; y tres bisnietos.
