Jose Juan "JJ" Pena

Viewing and visitation for Mr. Jose Juan Pena “JJ”, 36 of Lubbock will begin 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Rene Perez officiating. Burial will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

On the afternoon of Friday, October 3, 2025, Jose Juan Pena affectionately known as “JJ” went to be with the Lord. He was born on October 5, 1988, to Johnny R. Pena and Catherina Hernandez in Lubbock. JJ was a dedicated individual who made significant contributions to both the construction and farming industries. His commitment to his work was matched only by his passion for gardening, where he found solace and joy.

Throughout his life, JJ was known for his infectious smile and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. He had an extraordinary gift for making people feel comfortable and valued, especially children, whom he loved dearly. His generous spirit and open heartedness endeared him to many, leaving a lasting impact on his community and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

JJ will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to share in his journey. His legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will forever inspire those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Elesio and Sophia Pena, and his maternal grandmother Amada Hernandez.

He is survived by his loving parents Johnny R. Pena and Catherina Hernandez both of Lubbock; a son Jordan Cruz Pena of Lorenzo; five brothers Jerry Pena, Ricky Pena, Anthony "Sonny" Pena, Christopher Pena all of Dallas and Fabian Pena and his wife Lori of Ralls; his maternal grandfather Jose Cruz Hernandez of Crosbyton and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
