Josefina Martinez

Viewing and visitation for Josefina Martinez, 75 of Lubbock will begin Thursday, June 13, 2024, 11:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral mass will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Joseph Thanavelil officiating under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

On the afternoon of Monday, June 3, 2024, Josefina went to be with the Lord. She was born on March 19, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Jacobo and Refugia Martinez. Josefina married Geyermo Martinez on November 3, 2023, in Lubbock at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.  She was a homemaker most of her life.  

Josefina spent most of her life serving her lord and savior Jesus Christ.  She was a member of the Guadalupana Society, a minister of communion for her church and a committed servant to the lord for over forty years.  During her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and had a tremendous love for all her children and grandchildren.

May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her kindness and warmth live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She is preceded in death by her brothers, Simon Martinez, Jacob Martinez, Lorenzo Martinez, Santos Martinez, and Danny Martinez; sisters Helen Martinez, Maria Martinez, Rosa Martinez, and Janie Martinez.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Geyermo Martinez of Lubbock; sons Joe Michael Villarreal and wife Margarita of Lubbock, Eddie Villarreal of Lubbock, David Villarreal of Lubbock, and Leroy Villarreal of Lubbock; one brother Jimmy Martinez of Lubbock, six stepdaughters; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
