A memorial service for Mr. Joseph McClure Talbot Jr., 82 of Lubbock will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Elder-John R. Jinks White officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
Possibly the most stubborn man on the entire planet, Joseph McClure Talbot Jr, has left us to be with God. Born December 5th, 1942, in Beaumont. Joseph lived all over the state of Texas including Corpus Christi, Oak Cliff, Dallas, Arlington, ending up back at his childhood home in Lubbock, Tx where he lived out his days with his beloved wife Rosalinda Talbot.
Early in his career he was a brick mason but eventually graduated into mechanical plumbing, a field that he would work in for over four decades. His works enriched the lives of all of Lubbock's inhabitants with projects like the Pfluger Fountain at the entrance to Texas Tech, and the 2003 rebuild of Jones Stadium. There is nothing that Joseph and his toolbox could not fix. He was an extraordinarily gifted plumber, carpenter, welder, you name it, he could do it. Even in his retirement he was building car ports for all the neighbors in Caprock.
Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing, horse shoes, and barbequing. Heaven is getting the best BBQ it has ever had as Joseph was nothing short of a wizard with a smoker.
Joseph married twice (that he admits to). The first was to Lou Ann Adams of Lubbock, and together they had their son Nick Talbot. A little later in life he married Rosalinda DeLeon (Talbot) and they were together for 32 years until the day he died. Joseph was known to say "If you want to live a happy life...Marry a Hispanic!!!", words that he lived by as him and Rosalinda were very happy together, and the last words he spoke just seconds before passing were to his Rosalinda....."I love you too."
Joseph was preceded in death by his father Joseph Sr.; his mother Mabel and a sister Ann Larue.
He is survived by his wife Rosalinda Talbot of Lubbock; a son Nick Talbot of Lubbock; stepchildren Richie and wife Priscilla Falcon of Corpus Christi, Texas, Tony and wife Marianne Falcon of Crowley, Texas, LeeAnn Falcon Deleon and husband Rene Deleon of Corpus Christi, Texas and Sally Falcon of Corpus Christi, Texas, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, next time you are enjoying a drink, raise a glass for Joseph McClure Talbot Jr, a good man, a good friend, a good father, and a good husband!
