Juan Francisco Hernandez, 53 of Tahoka went to be with the Lord on the evening of Monday, September 21, 2026. He was born August 26, 1973, in Modesto, California, to the late Francisco and Angelita Hernandez.
Juan will be remembered as a hardworking man with many talents, someone who spent his career remodeling buildings and serving as a true jack of all trades. He approached life with energy and versatility, willing to work with his hands and take on whatever was needed.
He also embraced life’s simple joys with enthusiasm. Juan liked traveling, playing Texas Hold Em, and going to casinos. He loved watching new release movies, cooking, and writing poetry. More than anything, he was a people person who understood everyone. He had a gift for making others laugh and for helping those around him enjoy the moment. His warmth, humor, and easy way with people left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Family and friends will remember Juan not only for what he did, but for how he made others feel—welcomed, understood, and included. He enjoyed having a good time and sharing that spirit with others, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and an older brother Cecilio Hernandez.
He is survived by a son Joseph Francisco Nava-Hernandez of Tahoka; a daughter Ariha Nicole Nava-Hernandez of Austin; brothers Raymond Hernandez of Tahoka, Chris Hernandez of Lubbock, Mike Hernandez of Lubbock and Angel Hernandez of Tahoka; sister Elizabeth and her husband Gabriel Olivas of Lubbock.
