Juanita "Janie" Hernandez

Juanita “Janie” Sanchez Hernandez, 59 of Blanket, Texas passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. Viewing and visitation will begin Monday, August 2, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, August 3, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  There will be a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Slaton. Burial will follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Juanita was born May 23, 1962, in Brownfield, Texas to the late Juan Medina and Odelia Rodriguez. Juanita work in the Motel business as a housekeeper for several years.  She was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church-Slaton where she was a member of The Guadalupanas and a Cursillista and loved to cook for funeral meals. She had a heart of gold serving as a caretaker and helping anyone that she could. She loved all her family very much, however her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. Her family will always cherish the memories they have with her, and she will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by two grandchildren Yesnia Fabela and Dylan Hernandez, her father Juan Medina, two brothers Domingo Sanchez and Moncies Sanchez, her maternal grandmother “Mom” Virginia Sanchez and maternal grandfather “Dad” Juan Francisco Sanchez.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Johnny Hernandez of Wichita Falls and Lusio Hernandez of Lubbock; five daughters Heather and husband Matthew Hernandez of Lamesa, Gloria and husband Steve Garcia of San Antonio, Lusinda and husband Antonio Picon of Blanket, Maricella and husband Paulo Aguilera of San Antonio, and Jennifer Arguello of Brownfield; a brother Roy Sanchez of Slaton, five sisters Esperanza Garcia of Victoria, Rosalinda Medrano of Oklahoma, Frances Alonzo of Lubbock, Pam Moreno of Slaton, Martha Medina of Brownfield and her mother Odelia S. Rodriguez of Slaton, sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild.
