Leopoldo Portales Jr.

Leopoldo Portales Jr. passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 44. He was born on August 1, 1982, in Lamesa, Texas to Leopoldo Sr. and Maria Olga Portales.

Leopoldo will be remembered for the joy he brought to others through the simple things he loved most. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and coming up with jokes that could make those around him smile. He deeply loved Juanita Herrera, his true love, and treasured spending time with his family. Those who knew him will remember a man whose presence carried warmth, laughter, and affection.

Leopoldo Portales Jr. will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives were brightened by his humor, his love, and the time they shared with him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leopoldo Portales Sr.; his brother, Andrew Portales; his maternal grandparents, Pedro and Estella Casarez; and his paternal grandparents, Ponciano and Emilia Portales; also the love of his life Juanita Herrera.

He is survived by his Mother Maria Olga Portales of Meadow; brothers Arnold Portales (Catalina Rivera) of Brownfield, Martin Portales (Tana) of Spade and Rudy Portales of Meadow; sisters Mary Lou Ratliff (Richard) of San Benito, Esperanza Martinez (Rudy) of Kirbyville, Griselda Portales of Lubbock, Gloria Morado (Pedro) of Lubbock, Christina Martinez (Aurelio) of Florida, Susie Portales of Meadow, Mandy Portales of Meadow and Irma Ramirez (Pedro) of Wolfforth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church-Lubbock, with Father Jose De Dios Gonzalez officiating.
