Luis Carreon Ramirez, 72 of Lubbock passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021.  Visitation will begin Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel (Lubbock) from 1:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m., with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Services will be, 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Luis was born January 6, 1949, in Matamoros, Mexico to the late Andres and Guadalupe Ramirez. Luis worked for fourteen years at Texas Tech University as a custodian before retiring. Being a hard worker all his life, he returned to work part time.  He enjoyed having cookouts, bingo, dancing, jamaica’s, and just being around family and friends. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.   His memory will always remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his wife Valentina Ramirez (October 15, 2020) his parents Andres and Guadalupe Ramirez, a brother Andres Ramirez Carreon; four sisters, San Juanita Tejada Carreon, Guadalupe Tejada Carreon, Damiana Tejada Carreon, and Maria Mercedes Tejada Carreon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons Pete Mata and wife Mary of Carlisle, Celso Mata of Lubbock; five daughters Rosario Rodriguez and husband Isidro of Lubbock, Maggie Moreno of Lubbock, Guadalupe Mata of San Antonio, Estella Moreno and husband Anthony of Washington and Angie Perez and husband Bobby of Arlington; one sister Margarita Tejada Carreon of Brownfield; nineteen grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and multiple great great grandchildren

.Luis Carreón Ramírez, de 72 años de Lubbock falleció el jueves 14 de octubre de 2021.  La visita comenzará el martes 19 de octubre de 2021 en la Capilla de la Funeraria Calvillo (Lubbock) de 1:00 p.m. a 8:00 p.m., con un rosario que comenzará a las 6:00 p.m. la misma noche. Los servicios funerarios serán, a las 2:00 p.m., el miércoles 20 de octubre de 2021, en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. El entierro seguirá en Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park bajo la dirección de Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel.

Luis nació el 6 de enero de 1949 en Matamoros, México, hijo de Andrés y Guadalupe Ramírez. Luis trabajó durante catorce años en la Universidad Tecnológica de Texas como custodio antes de retirarse. Siendo un gran trabajador toda su vida, volvió a trabajar a tiempo parcial.  Le gustaba tener comidas al aire libre, bingo, baile, jamaica y simplemente estar cerca de familiares y amigos. También era un ávido fanático de los Dallas Cowboy.   Su memoria siempre permanecerá en los corazones de todos los que lo conocieron y lo amaron.

Le preceden en la muerte su esposa Valentina Ramírez (15 de octubre de 2020), sus padres Andrés y Guadalupe Ramírez, un hermano Andrés Ramírez Carreón; cuatro hermanas, San Juanita Tejada Carreón, Guadalupe Tejada Carreón, Damiana Tejada Carreón y María Mercedes Tejada Carreón.

Los que quedan para atesorar su memoria son sus dos hijos Pete Mata y su esposa María de Carlisle, Celso Mata de Lubbock; cinco hijas Rosario Rodríguez y su esposo Isidro de Lubbock, Maggie Moreno de Lubbock, Guadalupe Mata de San Antonio, Estella Moreno y su esposo Anthony de Washington y Angie Pérez y su esposo Bobby de Arlington; una hermana Margarita Tejada Carreón de Brownfield; diecinueve nietos, múltiples bisnietos y múltiples tataranietos.
