The family of Mrs. Lydia Kay Hernandez, 47 of Westbrook, Texas will host a Memorial Service 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2024, at The Worship Center with Pastor Jimmy Lucero officiating. An Inurnment will follow at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the morning of Tuesday, September 10, 2024, Lydia, a beacon of kindness and love, left this world too soon. She was born on May 3, 1977, in Lubbock, Texas, to Juan Garcia and Alesia Miller. Later in life on March 15, 2015, she went on to marry Robert Hernandez in Lubbock cherishing numerous years of a loving marriage before he preceded her in death. She showed abundant compassion throughout her life, always volunteering to help anyone in need. Lydia found joy in simple pleasures. She had a knack for making jewelry that sparkled as brightly as her personality. Her love for music, particularly Christian melodies, filled her heart with peace and content. Cooking was another of her cherished hobbies, where she would often create meals that brought her family together. Lydia had a special fondness for monkeys and adored her collection of stuffed animals, each representing a fragment of her playful and loving nature.Family was paramount to Lydia, and her greatest joy came from spending time with them, especially her six beloved grandchildren. They were the sunshine in her life, and she cherished every moment shared with them.
As we remember Lydia Kay Hernandez, let us hold dear her unwavering vibrant spirit of generosity, her love for family, and the joy she brought into their lives. Her legacy will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her, and her light will shine brightly in the stories we tell and the love we share.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Hernandez; a daughter Estrella Rivera-Guzman; paternal grandparents Natividad and Rosa Garcia; her maternal grandparents Celestino and Corina Talamantez.She is survived by her two sons, Isaha Rivera and Ismael Rivera both of Lubbock; her daughter, Cashlyn Hernandez of Lubbock; father, Juan Garcia of Lubbock; Mother Alesia, and husband John Miller of Westbrook, Texas; A brother Joshua Martinez "Rooster" of Lubbock; sister, Maria and husband Raymond Gutierrez of Lubbock; six grandchildren.
