Manuel Gonzalez "Big Bird"

Manuel D. Gonzalez “Big Bird”, passed away Friday, May 20, 2016 at University Medical Center.  Services for Mr. Gonzalez will be 10:00 am Monday, May 23, 2016 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating.  Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.  There will be a rosary held 7:00 pm tonight at Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

Manuel was born April 20, 1947 in San Juan, TX to Santiago & Trinidad Gonzalez.  He married Mary Lou Gutierrez in August of 1969 in Lubbock and worked for Bilbo Trucking starting in 1981 till his retirement in 2010.  He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church & enjoyed going to the horse races and spending time with family & friends.

He was survived by his son, Robert & Leilani Gonzalez of Lubbock; two daughters, Marty & Billy Stutts of Cabot, AR, Alice & James Andrews of Lubbock; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Lou Gonzalez.
