Rosary for Manuel Vasquez Sr., 86, of Idalou will be today at 7 PM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 AM at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Father Martin Pina officiating. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel. Manuel passed away on Sunday February 9, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born on December 11, 1927 in Kenedy,Texas to the late Juan and Francisca Vasquez. He married Abelia Flores on November 25, 1948 in Kenedy,Texas. He moved to Idalou in 1991 after retiring from the City of Dumas. He was a Catholic and loved to garden. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Abelia Vasquez of Idalou, six sons, Arturo Vasquez of New Home, Manuel Vasquez Jr of Wolfforth, Eliseo Vasquez of Lubbock, Felix Vasquez of Idalou, Adan Vasquez of Bryan, and Abel Vasquez of Round Rock, five daughters Margaret Garcia of Idalou, Frances Mendoza of Lubbock, Christine Flores of Katy, Vicki Garcia and Liza Vasquez both of Lubbock, two brothers Jose Vasquez of Wilson and Andres Vasquez of Graham, a sister Ramona Vasquez of Wilson, 30 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren
