Maria was born on March 29, 1924, in Corpus Christi to the late Catarino and Juliana Ruiz. Maria was a faithful and devout Catholic. Later in life on October 29, 1948, she married Guadalupe Esquivel in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he preceded her in death on January 1, 2013.
