Viewing and visitation for Maria Del Rosario Guerrero, “Rosario” 80 of Lubbock will be 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Deacon Ramiro Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the afternoon of Sunday, December 28, 2025, Rosario, went to be with the Lord. She was born on January 11, 1945, in Mathis, Texas, to the late Pedro S. and Genoveva Hernandez. Later in life in 1973 Rosario went on to marry Jimmy Guerrero in Lubbock, cherishing fifty-two years of a loving marriage.
As a proud Catholic, Cursillista and Guadalupana, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. It was a source of strength and community, and she dedicated herself to nurturing her spiritual beliefs through her actions and her relationships with others.
Throughout her productive career, Rosario fulfilled her role as a housekeeper at Motel 8 and Motel 6. Rosario also dedicated many years to Zider Zee Seafood Restaurants. Her hard work and dedication exemplified her strong spirit, proving to be an inspiration to her family and colleagues alike.
Rosario was a woman of many passions. She found joy in listening to music and dancing, often lighting up rooms with her lively spirit. An avid traveler, she embraced new adventures wholeheartedly. Her fondness for crocheting showcased her creative side, and she took delight in collecting dolls, horses, and memorabilia of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, which reflected her playful heart. She also enjoyed the simple pleasures of visiting the Good Will Store, where each find held a story and a piece of joy.
Her life was characterized by love, laughter, and a deep commitment to her family and friends. As we remember Maria Del Rosario Guerrero, we celebrate a life beautifully lived, one that leaves behind cherished memories and a lasting legacy of love. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by a brother Pedro V. Hernandez Jr.
Survivors include her husband Jimmy Guerrero Sr. of Lubbock; a son Jimmy Guerrero Jr. (Elena) of Lubbock; a grandson Jimmy Guerrero III (Kianna Garcia) of Lubbock; a granddaughter Jazelle Guerrero of Lubbock; a great granddaughter Briella Guerrero of Lubbock; five brothers Ricardo Hernandez, Jose Hernandez (Mary), Arnulfo Hernandez (Rebecca), Alberto Hernandez (Linda) and Arturo Hernandez all of Lubbock; three sisters Alica Castilla (Frank) of Milton Center, Ohio, Mary Martinez (Jose) of Lubbock and Beatrice Hernandez of Lubbock.
