Maria "Micaela" Ibarra

Maria “Micaela” Ibarra, 85, of Wolfforth went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 24, 2023.  Visitation will begin on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Ministerios Nueva Vida (201 North Boston, Lubbock, Texas 79415).  A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Ministerios Nueva Vida (201 North Boston, Lubbock, Texas 79415) with Pastor Domingo Ibarra Jr. and Pastor Richard Morin officiating. Burial will follow in Ropesville Cemetery. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

“Micaela” was born on September 29, 1937, in Guanajuato, Mexico, to the late Teodolo and Piedad Santillan. Later in life on September 3, 1954, she married Domingo Ibarra Sr. in Mexico.  Micaela was a homemaker, she enjoyed cooking for her family, knitting, crocheting blankets, and making pottery. Also listening to Christian music and singing. However, Micaela’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, they will always cherish the memories they have with her.

She is preceded in death by her husband Domingo Ibarra; her parents Teodolo and Piedad Santillan; her children Rebecca Ibarra, Samuel Ibarra, and Nancy Ibarra.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Noemi Covarrubias of Lubbock, Domingo Ibarra Jr. of New Home, Sarah Escamilla of Lubbock, Danny Ibarra of Lubbock, Maria Garza of Lubbock, Micaela Vega of Wolfforth, and Martha Pledger of Lubbock; a brother Jose Santillan of Mexico; a sister Catalina Santillan of Mexico; grandchildren Abel Covarrubias III, Alan Ibarra, Domingo Ibarra III, Caleb Ibarra, Nathan Escamilla, Bethany Calderon, Daniel Ibarra, Jonathan Ibarra, David Ibarra, Jameson Ibarra, Zachariah Vega, Jeremiah Vega, Ethan Scott, Sierra Scott, Melody Ibarra, Samantha Garcia, Sara Marie Ibarra, Jacob Ibarra and Andrea Hernandez.
