Viewing and visitation for Melissa Missy Olvera, 53 of Lubbock will be 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., Monday, January 19, 2026, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Daniel Garza officiating. Burial will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Melissa went to be with the Lord. She was born June 7, 1972, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Arthur and Mary Olvera. Later in life in 2016 she went on to marry Natanael Baca Ponce in Lubbock.
Melissa dedicated her life to her family, pouring love into every aspect of her role as a homemaker. She will be remembered not only for her nurturing spirit but also for her work as a promoter for "La Tri-Color" Radio Station, where her passion for music and culture shone brightly. Music was not just a hobby for Melissa; it was a deep-seated love that allowed her to enjoy life to the fullest, bringing laughter and joy into her home and her community.
She is preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mary Magdalena Olvera
She is survived by her husband Natanael Baca Ponce; a daughter Camelia Ponce Olvera and a sister Sofia De La Rosa all of Lubbock.
