Viewing and visitation for Mr. Mike R. Montiel, 66 of Lubbock will begin Thursday, April 9, 2026, 11:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening. Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2026, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in New Deal, with Father Brian Wood officiating. Burial will follow at The City of Lubbock Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

On the evening on Saturday, April 4, 2026, Mike went to be with the Lord. He was born November 1, 1959, in Lubbock to Simon and Helen Montiel. Mike lived a life marked by dedication to his faith, his community, and his many passions.

Mike devoted many years to working as a car porter at a local car dealership, where his commitment and hardworking nature were well known and deeply appreciated by his colleagues and customers alike. Beyond his career, Mike was a man of steadfast faith, a devoted Catholic who actively participated in his church community. His service extended through his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, embodying the principles of charity, unity, and fraternity.

Throughout his life, Mike embraced a variety of interests that reflected his vibrant spirit. He was a proud member of the Caprock Car Club, where his enthusiasm for automobiles was shared among fellow car enthusiasts. His commitment to fitness and sports was evident in his participation in the Lubbock Warriors Boxing, and he was an engaged member of the New Deal Men's Club, contributing to community activities with enthusiasm and goodwill.

Mike’s presence was a blessing to those around him, a kind and dependable friend who valued friendship and fellowship. His devotion to his faith and his community stands as a testament to a life well lived.

Mike R. Montiel leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, friendship, and community spirit that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. His contributions to his church, clubs, and workplace remain a lasting imprint of a life devoted to service and camaraderie.

He is preceded in death by his father Simon Montiel; two brothers Felipe Hilburn and Frank Montiel; a nephew Joseph Montiel and a niece Annalea G. Montiel.

He is survived by his mother Helen Montiel; two brothers Jesse Montiel and Eli Valdez; two sisters Mary Pashia and Betty Gallegos all of Lubbock; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
