Funeral Mass for Modesta Mendoza, 92, of Lubbock will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Tuesday November 30, 2021, with Father Rudy Crasta officiating. Graveside services will be held on the same day in Castro Memorial Park in Dimmitt, Texas under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Modesta went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 28, 2021.  She was born on February 19, 1929, in San Juan de Pena, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Leonardo and Josefina Mendoza. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesus Yanez Garcia on July 4, 1966.  Modesta was a hard worker who worked for L.I.S.D as a cafeteria server for many years and also worked as a cook for Montelongo’s restaurant.  She enjoyed many aspects of life and during her free time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and gardening.  However; her greatest joy was spending special time with family.

She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers; Francisco Mendoza, Froilan Mendoza, and Samuel Mendoza; two grandchildren; Angel Yanez and Miguel Yanez.

Survivors include her son Jose and wife Juana Yanez; one sister Guadalupe Mendoza Retiz; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.


La misa fúnebre para Modesta Mendoza, 92, de Lubbock se llevará a cabo a las 10:00 a.m. en la Iglesia Católica Our Lady of Grace el martes 30 de noviembre de 2021, con el padre Rudy Crasta oficiando. Los servicios junto a la tumba se llevarán a cabo el mismo día en Castro Memorial Park en Dimmitt, Texas, bajo la dirección de Calvillo Funeral Home.

Modesta fue a estar con el Señor el domingo 28 de noviembre de 2021. Nació el 19 de febrero de 1929 en San Juan de Peña, Guanajuato, México de los difuntos Leonardo y Josefina Mendoza. Le precedió en la muerte su esposo Jesús Yáñez García el 4 de julio de 1966. Modesta fue una gran trabajadora que trabajó para L.I.S.D como mesera de cafetería durante muchos años y también trabajó como cocinera para el restaurante Montelongo. Disfrutaba de muchos aspectos de la vida y durante su tiempo libre disfrutaba tejiendo, cosiendo y haciendo jardinería. Sin embargo; su mayor alegría fue pasar un tiempo especial con la familia.

Le antecede en la muerte su marido; padres; Tres hermanos; Francisco Mendoza, Froilan Mendoza y Samuel Mendoza; dos nietos; Angel Yáñez y Miguel Yáñez.

Los sobrevivientes incluyen a su hijo José y su esposa Juana Yáñez; una hermana Guadalupe Mendoza Retiz; nueve nietos; diez bisnietos; un tataranieto.
