Viewing and visitation for Nina Ruiz Elias, 58 of Lubbock will begin Saturday, December 23, 2023, 2:00 p.m.-8 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. All arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home & Chapel.

In the early afternoon of December 13, 2023, Nina went to be with the Lord. She was born November 11, 1965, in New Deal to the late Juan "Johnny" and Celia Ruiz. Nina worked at the Wells Fargo Call Center for numerous years. Her commitment to providing excellent service and her compassionate nature endeared her to both colleagues and clients alike. Through her work, she positively impacted countless lives and left an indelible mark on the people she interacted with.

Beyond her career, Nina's true passion was her family. She was a very loving, devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren always brought immense joy to her life. 

In addition to her family's happiness, Nina enjoyed going thrift shopping and finding hidden treasures. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows. It was during these moments of relaxation that she could escape from the pressures of daily life and immerse herself in captivating narratives.

Animals held a special place in Nina's heart, and it was evident through her deep love and kindness towards them.  Collecting piggy banks was one of Nina's favorite pastimes. Each one she acquired held sentimental value. Her collection became a reflection of her own optimistic spirit, always reminding those around her to save for the future while cherishing the present.

Nina will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Juan "Johnny" and Celia Ruiz; and a sister Lydia Licon.

Nina is survived by her sons Johnny Elias Sr. and his wife Elizabeth of Lubbock, Arthur Elias of Fernley, Nevada, and Seth Elias of Lubbock; a daughter Stephany and her husband Santos Garcia of Copperas Cove; five grandchildren Marisol Esperanza Elias, Johnny Ramiro Elias, JoeAngel Macario, Santos Ramiro Garcia and Gabrielle Roquelle Garcia; and two great grandchildren Pharaoh Maximus Watson and Angela Marie Watson.
