Peggy Jeanne Mitchell

Peggy Jeanne Mitchell, born January 14th, 1980, in Miami, Florida, passed away in Lubbock on September 4, 2026, at the age of 46.

Peggy lived a life marked by service, learning, faith, and deep love for her family. Soft-spoken by nature, she carried herself with quiet strength and devotion. Those who knew her will remember the steady kindness she brought into the lives around her. Above all, she loved her children, and that love remained at the heart of who she was.

Her life was also distinguished by honorable military service to her country. Peggy served in the United States Army beginning September 20, 2000. Her commitment to growth and service also led her through specialized training, including the Network Intelligence Agent Course, completed in 2001, and the Defense Language Institute Russian course, completed in 2004.

Over the course of five and a half years in the Army, including 5 years, 10 months, and 11 days of net active service, she held the rank of Sergeant, pay grade E-5, and served as a 97E2O Counterintelligence Agent for 5 years and 5 months. She completed foreign service in Kuwait from May 16, 2002, through May 16, 2003, and later served in Afghanistan from March 31, 2005, through June 11, 2006. At the conclusion of her first full term of service, she received an honorable release from active duty.

Peggy’s dedication and courage is/was recognized through numerous awards and decorations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal with three awards, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with two awards, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Combat Action Badge. These honors stand as a lasting tribute to her commitment, discipline, and sacrifice for the country she loved.

In addition to service, Peggy received her bachelor’s degree in teaching. Devoting and sharing her knowledge with others.

She found strength and comfort in going to church. Her faith was part of the rhythm of her life, offering a place of reflection, community, and peace.

She was also proud to have run for mayor of Lubbock, an accomplishment that reflected her willingness to step forward, serve, and take part in the life of her community.

Peggy Jeanne Mitchell will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her faithful heart, her service to her country, and her devotion to those she loved most. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her father Steve White.

Peggy is survived by her husband Samuel Mitchell; her children, Mickey Bohmfalk, Lexy Wesley and husband Colter, Cindy Rose Bohmfalk; a stepdaughter Jada Bohmfalk; her mother Francine White and her brother, Andy White.
