Rev. Roosevelt Moore Sr.

Rev. Roosevelt Moore, beloved father, grandfather, pastor, and friend departed this life on April 10, 2023, at the age of 87.  
He was born on July 18, 1935, to Jordan and Blumia Moore.  He married the love of his life Dora Faye Moore on June 4, 1955, in Hearne, Texas.  Roosevelt also moved to Tahoka in 1955 where he started a career as an auto mechanic which spanned 50 years.  He was the head mechanic at Hall Robinson Mercury.  He owned his own auto repair shop (OK Garage) and he was employed as shop foreman for the Texas Department of Transportation for 20 years. 

He was very talented.  He loved to sing and play the piano.  In the 80’s he became a minister and a pastor.  From 1989 to 2015 he pastored Greater Antioch Baptist Church of Tahoka (New Zeal District Association).

Those left to cherish his memory are his six sons Roosevelt Moore Jr. (Sylvia) of Lubbock, Danny Moore (Stella) Lubbock, Alvin Moore of Post, Travis Moore (Myra) Lubbock, Trent Moore (Lola) of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Moore of Lubbock, one special nephew he loved like a son Charles Wilson (Monica) of San Angelo, one sister Bennie Nance of Tahoka, a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dora and four sisters.

Visitation will be held Friday April 14, 2023 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel in Tahoka.  Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00pm, Saturday April 15, 2023, at Nevels Memorial Cemetery in Tahoka with Evangelist Rosalind Willis officiating.

The Family of Rev. Roosevelt "Alred" Moore Sr. would also like to acknowledge Hospice of Lubbock; they will forever be thankful for the utmost and compassionate care Mr. Moore received.
