Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Teodora Veliz Garza, 81 of Petersburg will begin Wednesday, June 26, 2024, 3:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Second Day Visitation 10:00 a.m-8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same evening at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will begin Friday, June 28, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church- Petersburg with Father Thomas Kadanthott officiating. Burial will follow at Petersburg Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home and Chapel. 

On the early morning of Tuesday, June 25, 2024, Teodora went to be with the Lord. She was born on December 21, 1942, to the late Ramon and Louisa Veliz. Later in life on January 23, 1960, she went on to marry David Garza in Edinburg, Texas cherishing forty-seven years of a loving marriage before he preceded her in death on February 8, 2007. Teodora was a very hard worker all her life, however she most recently retired as a cook from The Lubbock National Airport after many years of service. She was a devoted Catholic. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing cross word puzzles, collecting crosses, watching western movies and she never met a stranger. She was also very fond of the colors purple and black. Teodora left behind a great legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will be forever by those who were blessed to know her.

She is preceded in death by her husband David Garza; her parents Ramon and Louisa Veliz; siblings Pilar Perez, Ramon Veliz and Roy Veliz. She is survived by her son Martin Garza Sr., (Melissa) of Petersburg. Her grandchildren, Martin Garza Jr. (Amada) of Lubbock, Daniel Garza (Lauren) of Waxahatchie, Joshua Garza (Ashley) of Slaton, Sara Padron of Snyder, Melody Wind (Chris) of Bangs, John Padron (Barbara) of Texarkana, and Sammy Padron of Camp Lejeune, NC; also, fourteen great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and joy for her. Siblings Janie Arredondo, Ramiro Veliz (Orlinda), Esperanza Torres, Maria Aurora Garcia (Ricky), Maria Garza (Ramon) and Hellena Maria Ayala.
