Vicitacion Maria Arausa, a beloved homemaker and devoted mother, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, May 25, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1941, to the late Simon Mendoza and Eloisa Vela in Hebbronville, Texas. Later in life on December 12, 1959, Vicitacion went on to marry Guillermo Arausa in Corpus Christi, cherishing numerous years of a loving marriage before he preceded her in death.
Vicitacion lived a life marked by unwavering love, strength, and faith. She was a treasured soul whose presence touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Vicitacion was known by many endearing titles, but above all, she was “100 percent momma.” Her greatest joy in life was her beloved family, for whom she nurtured, cared, and provided unwavering support. She was a woman of boundless strength and spirit, who could accomplish anything around her home. She delighted in gardening, tending lovingly to her plants, and shared her warmth through her exceptional cooking, truly the best cook in the eyes of those fortunate enough to gather at her table.
Although she aspired to become a dietician and attended South Plains College in pursuit of this dream, health challenges ultimately held her back. Nevertheless, her passion for nurturing others never waned.
A faithful Jehovah’s Witness, Vicitacion held her beliefs with quiet conviction, finding comfort and guidance in her faith throughout her life.
Vicitacion’s legacy is one of deep devotion and boundless care, a life woven with moments of kindness, resilience, and the enduring power of a mother’s love. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Guillermo Arausa; parents Simon Mendoza and Eloisa Vela; daughters Marianna Silvas and Maria Angelita Arausa; a granddaughter Aubry Tanguma and sisters Maria Elena Mendoza and Angelica Perez.
She is survived by her sons Guillermo Arausa Jr. of Lubbock, Amador Rivera of Lubbock, Regino Arausa of Lubbock, Jose Arausa of Victoria and Simon Arausa of Victoria; daughters Olga Arausa of Ralls, Abigail Tanguma of Ralls and Rosalinda Ortiz of Victoria; sisters Mary Reyna of Lubbock, Molly Ruiz of Lubbock and Rosalinda Sanchez of Falfurias; thirty three grandchildren, sixty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
