Lubbock

Ysabel Juan Luna Jr., 69 of Lubbock passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022. Viewing and visitation for Mr. Luna will begin Wednesday, September 7, 2022, from 1:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. the same day. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating.  Burial will follow in City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Ysabel Juan was born July 7, 1953, in Greeley, Colorado to Isabel M. and Josephina Luna. He was married to Janet McIntyre for forty years to this day.  He worked in the trucking business as a truck driver for many years. Juan also elected to run for County Commissioner and mayor on numerous occasions. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching movies. eating sweets and especially helping people in the community.  Teaching Christian values and helping families get together, the homeless and youth while sharing motivational movies, pizza and testimonials was his pride and joy. Juan believed that “Jesus is always around and will never abandon them”.  However, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.  He will be greatly missed by all whom knew and loved him.  

He is preceded in death by his mother Josephina Luna; a son Vito Luna; a granddaughter Mena Moseley.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet McIntyre; sons, Kyle Smart and wife Terra of Lubbock, Shaun Smart and wife Margarita of Lubbock, Javier Luna and wife Evelyn of Austin, Ryan Smart and wife Victoria of Arizona, Stephen Smart and wife Angela of Arizona; one daughter Cynthia Raquel Luna of Austin; his father Isabel M. Luna;  two brothers, Felipe Guzman and Joe Luna; sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
