Antonia Ruiz

Antonia “Toni” Flores Ruiz, 85 of Lubbock passed away Monday, March 28, 2022. Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Ruiz will begin Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 2:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. Second day viewing will begin, Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 10:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 p.m. the same day. A Celebration of Life will begin 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Elias Garcia officiating.  Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home. “Toni” was born September 2, 1936, in Taft, Texas to the late Marcos Sr. & Manuela Flores. She married Juan Martinez Ruiz on December 25, 1959, in Cotulla, Texas, he preceded her in death on August 1, 2012. “Toni” had a deep love for reading her bible, as well as preaching the word of God and leading others in devotion and prayer. She was a homemaker, enjoyed sewing, cooking, which everyone knew she made the best tamales. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family; they will always remember how she was always very loving and understanding.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband Juan Martinez Ruiz (August 1, 2012); her parents Marcos Sr. & Manuela Flores and a daughter Susanna Ruiz (January 6, 2014). She is survived by two sons, John Ruiz Jr. and wife Linda of Lubbock and Robert Ruiz of Lubbock; four daughters Lupe Escobedo of Floydada, Rosa and husband Travis Ysasagas of Slaton, Bertha Ruiz of Lubbock and Danielle Ruiz and husband Martin Morales of Lubbock; three brothers Marcos Flores Jr. and wife Estela of Chicago, Juan Flores and wife Cathy of Chicago and Reymundo Flores of Cotulla; one sister Esperanza and husband Ignacio Medrano of San Antonio; 23

grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
