Cecil Honesto Jr.

Visitation for Cecil Honesto Jr., of O’Donnell will be from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel-Tahoka with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. on the same day.  Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in O’Donnell with Fr. John Rathinam officiating. Burial will follow at O’Donnell Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Cecil was called to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, May 21, 2022. He was born on August 26, 1958, in O’Donnell to Cecilio and San Juana Honesto. He was a graduate of O’Donnell ISD.  Prior to working with the maintenance department for Excel Meat Packing, he enjoyed working on the Franklin Farms and learning heating and cooling, amongst other trades.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, helping others, building projects for others and just being a handy man for anyone that needed help. He was a prime example of how we should live our lives…never thinking of yourself, but always looking for what you can do for others.  He loved with all he had and had a smile you wouldn’t forget.  Even in his lowest, his smile could light up a room and showed us all he wouldn’t lose his joy for life.  He also had a love for his dogs - all six and a half; however, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. His strength and selflessness will always be cherished by his family and everyone that knew him.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Janie Honesto of O’Donnell; two daughters, Carolee Perales of Plainview, Audrey Mireles and husband Alfredo of Amarillo; five sons, Thomas Gonzales of O’Donnell, Johnny Paul Gonzales of Lubbock, Dennis Gonzales and wife Lynette of Denver City, Domingo Gonzales, and wife Christi of Lubbock, Cecil Joe Honesto and wife Angelica of Plainview; three brothers, Seth Honesto and wife Kimberly of Lubbock, Steve Honesto of Lubbock, Adam Laureles of Brownfield; six sisters,  Mary Alice Morales of Lubbock , Irene Honesto of Waco, San Juana Garza and husband John of Waco, Eva Rodriguez of Waco, Celestina Suarez of Waco, Racheal Rodriguez of Dallas; twenty-three grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents Cecilio (May 7, 2005) and San Juana Honesto (August 16, 2004), a daughter who is walking with him on his final journey, Debbie Honesto of Laredo (May 21, 2022), and a brother Pedro Honesto (November 5, 2005)
