Viewing and visitation for John Luis Hernandez, 46, of Lubbock will be from 10:00 a.m.to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 6:00 pm on the same day. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Chapel with Saul Gomez officiating. Cremation arrangements were made under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Mr. Hernandez was called to be with the Lord, Monday, October 12, 2020. He was born on July 22, 1974 to Jessie Cantu Hernandez and Mary Hernandez. He was a graduate of Monterey High School and a dedicated caregiver in the MHMR field. John loved to cook, especially when it came to barbequing. He was also a talented woodworker, specializing in furniture. John loved to listen to as well as attend rock and roll concerts. However, Johns best times were being with his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his mother; Mary Hernandez, three daughters; Esmeralda Hernandez of Friona, Abigail Hernandez and Zabrailei Hernandez both of Lubbock; two brothers; Jessie Hernandez and Bobby Ray Hernandez both of Lubbock; three sisters, Tracey Lee Hernandez of Lubbock, Julie Hernandez of Friona and Monica R. Balli of Kansas; eight nephews, Isaiah David Rodriguez, Marcos Antonio Zapata, Christian Prieto, Dallas Hernandez, Alex M. Schlabach, Andrew J. Balli, David A. Balli, and Dimitrio M. Balli; nine nieces, Anyssa E. Zapata, Butterfly F. Hernandez, Sierra Hernandez, Rihanna Hernandez, Reagan A. Perry, Alyssa B. Schlabach, Emilia G. Balli, Deashia L. Balli, and Sariah B. Balli; three great nieces Avery Rose Rodriguez, Brooklyn Nyelli, and Ava Rose Thedsord.
He is preceded in death by his father Jessie Cantu Hernandez Sr. and by his maternal grandparents Ernestina Chapa Benitez and Leonard Alcorta Benitez.
According to local and state guidelines, facemasks will be required at all times during visitation and funeral services. Temperatures will be taken upon entering funeral home
