Juanita Valdez

Viewing and visitation for Juanita “Janie” Valdez, 73 of Lubbock will be from 11:00 a.m.to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Joe Morin officiating. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.

Mrs. Valdez was called to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 24, 2020. She was born on May 15, 1947 in Sinton to the late Esmerjildo and Sara Pacheco. On November 13, 1962 in Lubbock, she married Guillermo Y. Valdez, Sr. in Lubbock, he preceded her in death on March 31, 2017. Janie was a homemaker, she loved gardening, sewing, and enjoyed going to garage sales. She also found delight in shopping, dressing up and playing with her dogs. Her family will always cherish and remember how she was not only a great mother, but also a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her common law husband Albert Pena of Lubbock; three sons Gilbert Valdez, Guillermo Valdez Jr. and Angelo Valdez all of Lubbock; two daughters Yolanda Garcia of Lubbock and Patricia Laureles of Slaton; three brothers Danny Pacheco and Domingo Pacheco both of California; two sisters Lupe Soliz of Oregon and Estefana Molinar of Michigan; eighteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Guillermo Y. Valdez (November 13, 1962); parents Esmerjildo and Sara Pacheco; a brother Mere Pacheco and a sister Lala Pacheco.

According to local and state guidelines, facemasks will be required at all times during visitation and funeral services. Temperatures will be taken upon entering funeral home
