Maria Lopez

Maria DeJesus Lopez, 68, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 in Lubbock.  Memorial services for Maria will be 2:30 P.M. Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel in Lubbock with Rev. Sonia Scott officiating.  Her cremains will be buried in Weslaco, Texas on a later date in Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Maria was born July 11, 1951 in Weslaco, Texas to the late Pedro Daniel Sr. (January 25, 1995) and Trinidad Molina Lopez (July 9, 2000).  She worked as a teacher for Lubbock ISD, Plainview ISD and then for Whitney ISD.  She devoted her life not only to teaching for thirty- two years but used her knowledge to assure everyone received an education.

She is survived by three brothers; Pedro Daniel Lopez Jr. of Lubbock, Jaime Esteban Lopez and Milton Overlin Lopez both of Kerrville, three sisters; Laura Lopez of Lubbock, Thelma E. Lopez of Ruidoso, N.M., Nelda Lopez of Hopkins, South Carolina.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Sonia L. Douglas (May 24, 2002), Silvia Lopez (November 9, 2007)
